MACP members voted in 2 new writer directors Y Bhg Dato M Nasir and Abie Abdullah at the 21st AGM. They join existing directors, Habsah Hassan, Ahmad Izham Omar, Ad Samad and Johan Nawawi. Both Ahmad Izham and Johan Nawawi were re-elected to the board at the meeting. Tan Chong Yi retired after serving on the board since 2005.
2 publisher directors Jennifah Johari (Luncai Emas Sdn Bhd) and Janice Foong (Sony Music Publishing Sdn Bhd) were also elected, joining Carol Chan (Warner Chappell Music (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd), Lydia Ong (EMI Music Publishing Malaysia Sdn Bhd) and Jack Teo (Universal Music Publishing Sdn Bhd) who were all re-elected to the board. Another director, Pn Norkhayati Mohd Hashim (Kelarai Sakti Sdn Bhd) will only be due for retirement next year.
The enlarged board now comprises 6 writer directors and 6 publisher directors as approved by members at the 20th AGM.
The meeting also adopted the audited financial statements for the year ended 31 December 2010 together with the reports of the directors & auditors. Messrs Ernst & Young were also re-appointed as the Company’s auditors.
MACP Chairman, Pn Habsah Hassan gave members a detailed explanation on the financial results of the Company which recorded a 10% growth in gross revenue from RM32.7m in 2009 to RM36.1m in 2010. She also updated members on various issues affecting the Company such as the pending amendments to the Copyright Act, 1987, announcement on the waiver of TV broadcast by the Government, activities of Koperasi Industri Muzik Malaysia Berhad and plans on formation of a new collecting body for performers.
Members were also briefed on the various activities conducted by the Company since the last AGM. New members were also informed on the benefits offered by the Company to its members such as study grants, veteran members allowances, reimbursement of hospitalization expenses, funeral expenses etc. Pn Habsah explained that these benefits will be reviewed by the board from time to time and are to certain terms & conditions.
Meanwhile, members were informed that the Company has purchased a new office space in Solaris Dutamas for relocation at the latest by the 1st quarter of next year.
