21 to 22 May 2012 : CISAC/BIEM Asia Pacific Committee Meeting

After 18 years, the CISAC Asia Pacific Committee meeting finally made its way back to Kuala Lumpur. Representatives from 13 authors’ collective management organization from the Asia Pacific including, for the first time from New Caledonia attended this meeting.

Also present were Mr Oliver Hinnewinkel, Director General CISAC, Mr Ronald Mooij, Secretary General, BIEM, Mr Ang Kwee Tiang, Regional Director, CISAC, Asia Pacific and representatives from ASCAP, BMI, MCPS-PRS, SACEM, SGAE and SOCAN bringing a total of 28 participants, the highest attendees ever for a CISAC/BIEM Asia Pacific Committee meeting!

The meeting, chaired by Mr Scot Morris, Chairman, CISAC Asia Pacific Committee was held at MACP’s new office. Besides country reports presented by each society’s representative, the meeting discussed on New Media and International Satellite TV Broadcasters licensing developments, implementation of Professional Rules & Compliance Visits, Training & Education Activities by CISAC, WIPO and other Governmental agencies in the region. There was also a presentation by Barcelona Music & Audio Technology (BMAT), which provides music monitoring and identification services.
